Do you believe you are a writer?

Do you believe you are a writer?

“Even a child can grab a crayon and write their name, or I love mom. Can you write any better than that now? What have you learned about writing since your childhood? Do you believe your writing skills are better now than that young child who used to be you?” ~R.G. Ramsey

You must believe in yourself.

Are you a writer?

Take some time to look deep within yourself, and truly decide what is important to you and what your values are. This is a personal quest, and every one of us will have a different answer to that intriguing question, “Who am I?”

You must discover who you are, and what you want to do with your short time here on earth. It doesn’t matter what your decision about the preferred outcome of your life is, all that matters is that you believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will either.

If you decide to be a writer and share your wisdom, experience, and imagination written down for those with a passion to devour the written word to enjoy, then congratulations on finding your way here. You are in good company.

If you are going to be a successful writer you must believe you are a skilled writer and have self-confidence in your ability to write. Writing is an art form and takes a level of skill, but it is not one that cannot be learned.

Having the mindset of believing in yourself will change your life, and having unwavering confidence in your ability to write and share your story will make you unstoppable.

Buddha Quote

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What you think you become.” ~Buddha

Does fear of criticism prevent you from writing?

Public speaking is the biggest fear most people have. Modern times with the internet and especially social media so prevalent with keyboard warriors spewing hate due to having an inferiority complex will prevent many people from achieving their dreams.

Many people let fear, lack of time, and self-limiting doubts prevent them from even starting on a writing project. You must be true to yourself, and have faith that you can write in a way that entertains or inspires your readers.

If you want to make a change in your life and become a writer, you must believe that you can do it. The hardest part is avoiding the many enticing distractions around you and focusing your attention on not only starting but completing your work.

It is not enough to just believe in yourself, you must take action to get your writing done as well.

We can believe in ourselves with every breath of our being, and even if we have an unquenchable desire to move forward and accomplish our writing goals, it is all for naught if we don’t take action and start writing.

The scariest writing

“The scariest moment is always just before you start.” ~Steven King

It is our self-talk that determines our existence. The words that we habitually say to ourselves will create our destiny.

If we repeat the affirmation, “I believe I am a writer.” every day, it won’t be long before our daily actions bring our beliefs into reality. Affirmations are the answer to changing our mental state.

We must practice writing every day to become skilled and proficient at it. We always get better at things when we practice doing them daily. What you practice grows stronger.

Research has shown that repetitive actions create neural pathways composed of neurons and connected by dendrites in our brains. The number of dendrites increases with the frequency the behavior is performed.

The more we practice writing, the more habitual it becomes, and the more proficient we will be at it.

Many people will make excuses for not writing because it is not a habitual pattern in their daily routine. Lack of time is a common excuse that people use to avoid writing regularly.
